90’s Raves

Somebody landed a Halloween gig at 151 W. Hastings.

Collectively what came together can be called my first working party. We had been enjoying the local Raves in Vancouver and Victoria of the past five years, starting with Crave on New Year’s Eve 1989 or 90, but this was the first party we were dishing up ourselves. Within my extended circle of friends enough creativity and motivation had risen, along with the requisite level of skills, that we made the leap from consuming parties to putting them on.

The camera came along, initially to document my visual projections and installations of atmospheric design for my portfolio, but soon it turned towards the participants, most notably the DJ’s. Represented here are many of my friends, and those we worked with; a taste of who and what was going on at the time.
